I bought this for my dad for his birthday. I’m not sure if he’s played it yet but he liked getting it.

This makes a nice gift for the golfer in your life. And once you get the hang of the game, it’s actually a lot of fun.

I was given this as a birthday gift by my older son who knew I was an avid fan of Woods’ PGA ‘08. I had played that game through two seasons and was continuing happily to beat all the pros in fun games. I bought this game for my younger son who expressed interest. This PGA 10 version was something of a disappointment in several respects. In many ways it will keep your scores realistic. (That’s the problem!)
I had a triple bypass three years ago and am pretty-well recovered. Otherwise I would not be able to play this game. This swing is much more vigorous than the swing for PGA 08. But after playing several rounds I am now getting consistently between 90 and 100% power (255-280 yards). This comes with minor muscle pain but that’s ok with me.
Two things I really don’t like are the inability to turn off the wind and the tough putting. I use the “precision putting” that is most like the putting in PGA ‘08. But the main difference is the putt speed which you cannot adjust and the significant effect of slope in line with your putt. For 6 feet out you will either stop two feet short by under compensating for a 2 inch up-slope or go 8 ft by the hole by over-compensating or lipping out.
There is no game without the modified controller. You can hit all clubs except the putter. The putter cannot be activated at all. I found my controller was badly biased to the left (draw). (My son’s controller hits straight.) Fortunately there is a new feature that lets you adjust the clubs to compensate for a problem like this. Otherwise I would have returned the game. The problem with the club-tuning driving range is you cannot see your exact distance. For this I have used a custom course of “flat fives” from Doral with no wind in PGA ‘08. Now I must contend always with a random wind of 1 to 8 mph.
Only 17 courses are initially unlocked. It will be a very long time before I can unlock any. This process was much easier in PGA ‘08.

I understand that you can only change so much from year to year in a golf game, but come on. You can easily pretend you’re playing 2005-2009 this year and be fooled. The putting, in my opinion, still kind of stinks. I never really get a great feel for any putt and when I make a long one it feels more like complete luck than any kind of skill. The graphics are very good for Wii and the courses look great. I haven’t used the add on motion wii-mote so cannot offer a comment on it. I’ve heard that it improves the game vastly, but I hate being nickel and dimed by Nintendo and forced to buy attachments. In any event, the driving and short game are still very good but the putting still causes too much frustration to rate higher than 3 stars.

I selected Advanced Shot and Precision Putting, not knowing why, but what the heck??
This is the greatest game ever. I feel bad for Tiger, because he’s always shaking his head, like “What the heck just happened?” Hee hee. Sucks to be YOU, Tiger, when you’re under my control.
I’ve played golf and I’m OK. I’m not THIS good, though. Man, the controls are just like golf, with the exception that the control is too loose on the putter face. It moves around too much. Hard to control. But, other than that, fades and draws, etc work GREAT.
I love this game. It’s replaced Wii Tennis as my default. Get this game. Even if you don’t play golf, you can have fun hacking around the course. If you do play golf, you’ll love it.
I have the Wii Motion Plus.
