I dusted off my Tiger Woods 2006 game in the spring of ‘07 and decided that I had done all I could with it. I read the previews and reviews for the ‘07 version and thought that I would get it to try out the new courses. Unfortunately, not all of the courses listed in the preview are available on the PSP (they are on other consoles). To make matters worse, there are several courses repeated from the last version (do we really need Pebble Beach & St. Andrews on EVERY golf game?).
Most notably for 07 the graphics and load times are much improved. There is a side power meter to give an objective measure of swing strength. But that’s where the improvements end. The putting game has been changed to provide a read of the putting line with which you need to judge the swing strength to ensure the proper speed. But the speed/strength result is maddingly inconsistent. I have found that you can only swing at intervals of 6% (i.e., 81%, 87% or 93% strength. The game doesn’t read any increments in between). On puts of 20′ or more this can be fatal. (I’ve also noticed that rimming the cup will INCREASE the speed of a put sending you 18 feet on a 10 foot level putt).
The mini-game “Putting Frenzy” is ill-conceived. You need to putt as fast as you can to score points which leaves you no time to read the line or estimate speeds. “Putting” and “as-fast-as-you-can” are 2 concepts that go together like fish and ice cream.
Once again they include fantasy courses which were created by computer programmers, not golf course designers. The end result is that you have to play each hole in a pre-designed method without having the chance to use your abilities to fade, draw or flop over obstacles to cut strokes. If I wanted to play through windmills and ramps I’d stick to Hot Shots Golf.
I really liked Woods 06 and think it to be the best golf game for the PSP. The new offering is the same basic gameplay without enough new content to justify giving it a higher rating.

cannot put down this game—-ever so challenging —so many choices—not hard to build up your game to the point where all challengers have not much of a chance to win;;;;;;;;;;;;; john in michigan

I over played TW 2006 for PC so I was ready for this. I am not a gamer so it took some time to get used to the psp. Now I am a par golfer and started my PGA tour. I am very very pleased and look forward to many months of enjoyment.
